What is a figure ground plan?

A figure ground plan — Schwarzplan in German, planivolumetrico in Italian — shows built mass as solid black and everything else as void. Stripping out street names, land use and topography makes the grain of the city, the block size and the shape of public space immediately comparable between places.

What area does this Paris plan cover?

Where does the data come from?

Every building outline, street and park is live OpenStreetMap data, queried at the moment the drawing is generated. Nothing is traced by hand and nothing is AI-generated. Where OSM has no data for a layer, MapToNap says so on the drawing instead of inventing it.

Can I get an editable vector instead of an image?

Yes.
